JOSEPH TENSELY

Camp Summit Counselor

PARTNER WITH ME

Hi! My name is Joseph Tensley, and I’m from Davenport, Iowa. I’m currently studying Exercise Science at the University of Iowa. One of my favorite hobbies is learning new calisthenics moves and challenging myself to keep growing physically and mentally.

I began counselor training in July of 2025 after first hearing about Camp Summit through one of YouthHope’s directors. From the beginning, I felt drawn to the mission of camp and the opportunity to invest in the lives of young people. I wanted to become a camp counselor because I believe in creating an everlasting impact for the kids who come to camp each summer.

Something I’m truly looking forward to this summer is building meaningful relationships with campers and helping them grow in their relationship with God. I believe camp is a powerful place where lives can be changed, and I have faith that campers will leave with a greater understanding of why it is so important to live for God and the many reasons we can trust Him.

One of my biggest hopes for every camper is that they experience a moment that can only be explained by God. Whether that looks like unexpected peace, overwhelming joy, or a deeper understanding of His presence, I pray each camper encounters the goodness of God in a real and personal way this summer.
