Hey everyone! My name is Miguel Rosales, and I’m a freshman at Illinois State University. I’m originally from East Moline, Illinois, and I’m double majoring in Business and Marketing while also working toward my teaching degree. On top of that, I run both track and cross country. When I’m not in class or training, I love giving back to the community, playing sports, and spending time with my family.
Camp Summit has been a huge part of my life ever since I was a kid. I’ve been coming here practically my whole life, and some of my favorite memories are coming to camp with my brother, being involved in YouthHope programs, and participating in the clubs. Growing up in this environment helped build the foundation of my faith, but as I got older, I had to decide what my next step would be. What ultimately brought me back to Camp Summit as a counselor was the incredible community. The love and support this team pours into one another is unlike anything else, and there’s nothing like seeing campers arrive each summer with excitement on their faces, ready to experience the love of Jesus.
God has completely transformed my journey here. He has shown me how to use my gifts—not just on the running track or in the classroom, but here in ministry. Camp Summit taught me how to live out my faith and has equipped me to carry that light beyond camp into everyday life.
This summer, I’m excited for a season of mutual growth. My goal is not only to teach kids about the Lord, but also to strengthen my own faith along the way. I’m looking forward to standing alongside my fellow counselors, encouraging one another, and growing stronger together as a team.
I’m expecting God to move powerfully in my life this summer by giving me the boldness to express my faith daily. I’m praying that He guides my words and actions so I can do my best to show these kids how He is working in all of our lives.
My biggest hope is that every camper—no matter where they come from or what their background may be—feels welcomed here at Camp Summit. I pray they experience God’s love, build meaningful connections, and create lasting memories while encountering Him through His creation.
